Bid Preparation Support

Overview

The economic crash of 2008 reinforced the need for companies to feel confident that when bidding for new business:

  • they have the highest probability of being awarded the contract
  • the contract has not been "bought"
  • the contract is capable of being delivered in budget and on time
  • the company is confident it has or can acquire the necessary project management and technical resources to perform satisfactorily
  • ultimately the contract will achieve the business case that underpins the decision to bid

PES can participate in, lead parts of or manage in total, a proposal team responding to either a Defence RFT or a commercial Request for Tender. For Defence tenders, PES is practiced in responding to DMO tender documentation including DID's and is experienced in the development of project cost estimates and tender response techniques including STOP . Commercial tenders are usually less complicated but require no less rigorous attention to detail.

Critical Assistance

In addition to undertaking a role in the bid team, I can assist in these critical ways:

  • Perform a pre-bid decision analysis of the tender taking into account the potential bidders strengths and weaknesses that will assist the senior company management to decide whether to bid or not
  • Assist the bid team at any level to organize and marshall company and external resources in responding to the bid in an effective manner
  • Perform requirements analyses and perform trade studies for solution options
  • Assist the compilation of bid documentation in whatever format required
  • Lead or participate in Black , Blue , Red , and Gold team reviews of the bid (respectively Bid Preliminary review, Penultimate technical review, Critical final review, Senior management final review)
